Graduation time again...
The way you know it is gradutaion time here is when you hear all the noise in the streets (picture above). When students are about to graduate from highschool, tradition here is to walk with your class through the streets and sing, twirl the noise makers and carry a sign with pictues all the students in your class that are graduating (their graduating classes are much smaller then ours in the states so they can fit their whole class on one big poster board). It is also a good idea to make sure you have change on you b/c some of them will come up to you and you are supposed to give them money to go towards their senior class and they in turn will give you a piece of candy.
Friday, as I was walking through the streets I got stopped several times. I made them speak English before I would give them money. It is fun and neat to watch them shout with excitement through the streets! I am not sure how well that would go over in the States since most of our graduating classes have close to 1000 people in them. Although it would be interesting to see.
